MWKA Public Series Lunch Talks

MahWengKwai & Associates’s Public Series Lunch Talks are organised once a month over lunch to inculcate knowledge and awareness, promote deliberations and networking amongst our clients to explore new strategic partnerships.

These lunch talks are complimentary and are open for our clients, in-house legal counsel and interested members of the public* to attend.

Each presentation is designed with our consumers in mind. We ensure our presentations are chalked-full of relevant information in an easy-to-understand format. We always allow time for questions and answers with one of our experienced speakers/ attorneys and send you home with useful handouts and resources.

Most presentations are approximately 1 1/2 – 2 hours long and include a light meal. Whenever possible, we encourage business partners to attend together. You will also have an opportunity to schedule your 30-minute complimentary initial consultation with our lawyers after the seminar if you choose.

Registration is simple. However, spaces are limited, so do register early using our online form below or simply call +603 78872702. If you have any questions, please contact Kate at +603 78872702 or seminars@mahwengkwai.com

12:30pm – 2:30pm    Human Rights in Malaysia: Facing the Challenges (Download pdf brochure )

The basic idea of human rights is that each one of us, no matter who we are or where we are born, is entitled to the same basic rights and freedoms.

That may sound straightforward enough, but it gets incredibly complicated as soon as anyone tries to put the idea into practice.

What exactly are the basic human rights in Malaysia? What are the challenges when upholding the basic human rights?

Talking Points

  • Accession to Human Rights Treaties
  • Freedom of expression and speech
  • Freedom of  assembly
  • Preventive detention
  • Death penalty, torture
  • Rights to education, health
  • Rights of  women, children

Location: MahWengKwai & Associates, Level 10, Tower B, Prima Avenue, Dataran Prima.
