Raymond Mah

Raymond’s primary area of practice is in civil and corporate litigation, appeals and arbitration. His experience includes a variety of construction and land related disputes.

Raymond chambered in Shook Lin & Bok under the guidance of Mr Steven Thiru and Dato’ Dr Cyrus Das.

Thereafter, he gained invaluable experience from working closely with Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai, until the latter’s appointment as a High Court Judge in 2010.

Richard Wee

Richard Wee is an elected member of the Bar Council, where he is currently the Chairperson of the Professional Standards and Development Committee, the Co-Chairperson of an anti-crime Committee called “Safer Malaysia” and the Deputy Chairperson of the Ad-Hoc Committee to amend the Legal Professional Act 1976.

He was called to the Bar in 1999. Richard is comfortable in advocacy and is often seen in court conducting hearings and trials.

He has a personal liking for Trust Laws & Criminal Defence Litigation but he is equally skilled in handling Property Transactions. On a few occasions, Richard Wee has acted as a consultant in corporate matters. Richard is also known for his passion for Civil Liberty issues and Sports Law.

On the matter of sports, Richard is a big fan of Everton Football Club in the English Premier League. He is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM). Richard is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association (ANZSLA).

Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai

Retired Judge, Court of Appeal, Malaysia

Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai was called to the English Bar as a Barrister-at-Law in 1971 and to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in July 1972.

He obtained his Master of Laws degree with Honours in 1985 from the University of Sydney, Australia and in 1999 was appointed a Fellow of the Senate of the University of Sydney.

On 4.1.2010 Dato’ Mah was appointed a Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Malaya and on 10.8.2011 a Judge of the High Court of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. He was elevated to the Court of Appeal, Malaysia on 21.9.2012.

Dato’ Mah returned to MahWengKwai & Associates as a Consultant after his retirement as a Court of Appeal Judge in February 2015.

Sarah Kambali

A graduate of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Sarah was called to the Bar on 25th October 2007. She had spent her pupillage under Mr Richard Wee Thiam Seng in Messrs Azizah, Sarina & Khoo.

Since then, she has been largely involved in Property & Loan Documentation projects and drafting of various kinds of contracts. Sarah also from time to time assists her colleagues in litigation matters. She plans to be involved with Syariah matters in the future, in particular Syariah Family Law, Faraid (Inheritance) and Wasiat.

Gan Chong Chieh

Gan was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in September 2009 and commenced legal practice with the firm.

She then spent a number of years in practice at Richard Wee & Yip before joining MahWengKwai & Associates in October 2016.

Having completed his pupilage in Zain Megat & Murad, he was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2014.
